The quarter-zip vest has been a sartorial standby, especially at higher-end clubs, for the last 15 years. Peter Millar's classic Merino, right, is a perfect example. In fact, when I think of a teaching professional, I picture them in one of these. The problem for a lot of golfers looking for a trimmer silhouette is that these pullovers are often cut very generously and don't mesh with our slim trousers and polos - not to mention the attitude is an older and less edgy one...
